Finnish game industry
The games sector employs around 4 300 professionals and there are about 270 companies. From game industry professionals in Finland 35% are from abroad and 24% are female.
In 2021 Finnish Game Industry surpassed first time €3 billion turnover. In 2024 the turnover was around €2.85 billion. Most of this revenue comes for the export of games.

The games industry is still quite modern and new, and with it comes growing problems. We are dependent on global markets which can fluctuate heavily. We want to ensure that the industry stays healthy and we are committed in creating best practises like Collective Agreements.
Some challenges include the lack of senior level employees and funding among other things.
Despite that the greatest strengths of the Finnish game industry are the community's team spirit and the culture of working together, the innovation and creativity as well as the increased focus on business and monetization.
In Finland there's a strong investment in education. Around 20 educational institutes in Finland offer game studies. Building a equal and fair working culture starts from school. Read more about studying the games field from here!

IGDA Finland is the local Finnish chapter of the International Game Developers Association, their goal is to connect game developers, promote professional development, and advocate for the interests of the community.

The Digi & Game Center is host to a wide range of companies, educational institutions, startups, entrepreneurs, students and projects around digital business and services, and the game industry.

The Finnish Association for Electronic Sports (SEUL) acts as the central organisation for Finnish competitive esports, with the task of developing and highlighting electronic sports and the activities of its members. Through its activities, the association aims to raise the awareness and prestige of electronic sports as a hobby.

Elisa Esports produces broadcasts, tournaments and events for esports lovers. Since the autumn of 2018, they have produced thousands of hours of esports broadcasts, e.g. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, PUBG and Rocket League.

Espoo Game LAB (EGL), is a unique game lab located in Otaniemi, Espoo. The EGL was created to foster growth in the game industry by equipping participants with the essential skills to either secure a job in the field or establish their own game companies.

Peliosuuskunta Expa – Jyväskylä Game Industry Hub is a co-operative game company that has established an open community for everyone interested in the game industry, game business, and game development. Their goal is to advance the game industry in Jyväskylä and Central Finland. Providing a network for the active game developer scene, connecting individual game developers and game companies, and bringing together game industry workers, talents, students, researchers, lecturers, entrepreneurs, etc.
